
Sundogs Shut out by Bees, 2-0

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - After a penalty-filled second period that left the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees with a game-misconduct and their head coach ejected, John Murray stopped 38 shots to uphold a 2-0 shutout win over the Arizona Sundogs on Saturday night at Tim's Toyota Center.
It was the first shutout suffered by the Sundogs (6-8-3) since March 11th of last season. Murray corralled a Sundogs offense that recorded 17 goals in their last three games.
Kyle Hood's five-game point streak came to an end for Arizona. Levente Szuper put in another solid performance for the Sundogs with 39 save, but took the loss. Arizona's three-game winning streak also came to a close.
After a scoreless first period, Aaron Lee gave the Bees a 1-0 lead 7:23 into period two. Rio Grande Valley (9-6-0) appeared to take a 2-0 lead with just under five minutes to play on a Brandon Campos goals, but it was waived off as both teams crowded between the benches resulting in multiple penalties and fights.
The scrum resulted in six total penalties, including a game misconduct to the Bees' Kyle Radke for instigating a fight with Arizona's JP Chabot. Rio Grande Valley head coach Terry Ruskowski was ejected from the game shortly after the incident concluded.
The Bees took a two-goal lead that stood up in the third period from Jake Hauswirth's wrist shot in the left circle midway through.
With the loss, the Bees jump three points ahead of Arizona for fourth place in the CHL's Berry Conference. The Sundogs still sit one point back of Texas in fifth after the Brahmas lost to Laredo.
The Sundogs went 0-for-6 on the power play while the Bees went 0-for-3.
The Sundogs will begin a five-game road trip on Wednesday when they visit the Laredo Bucks. Game time is set for 6:05 PM MST.
