
Sundogs Return Enforcer Adam Smyth

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has re-signed forward Adam Smyth for the upcoming 2010-11 Central Hockey League season.
Smyth, 26, collected five points (2g/3a) and 193 PIM in 45 contests with the Mississippi RiverKings in 2009-10 prior to being dealt to Arizona at the trade deadline. In 16 games with the Sundogs to close out the season, Smyth recorded one goal, two assists and 54 PIM.
"We acquired Adam at the trade deadline last season and we were a different team with him in the lineup," said Pietroniro. "He adds toughness to our roster and enjoys his role as a team leader. I know our fans share our excitement in having Adam back for the 2010-11 season."
The Wiarton, Ontario, native led the CHL with 25 majors and his 247 PIM were third-most in the league during the 2009-10 season.
In 2008-09 the 6-foot-1, 225-pound forward led Mississippi and finished third overall in the CHL with 271 PIM. Smyth has gathered 639 PIM in 143 regular season games in the CHL and nearly 1,400 PIM in 335 pro games.
Smyth joins forward Joey Sides and goaltender Doug Groenestege as players under contract with Arizona for the 2010-11 season.
