Arizona Sundogs News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The 2008 Central Hockey League Ray Miron President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs have announced that they and Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro have helped to form the Prescott Valley Youth Hockey Association (PVYHA), a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization to govern ice hockey in Prescott Valley.

Three teams separated into three age groups (Squirt - 10 and under, Pee Wee - 12 and under, Bantam - 14 and under) will compete in the Sonoran Youth Hockey League during the 2008-09 season. PVYHA teams will compete in the ‘B' division and will play a total of 20 games during the season, ten at home at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley and ten on the road at rinks primarily in the Phoenix area. The PVYHA will also include the Prescott Storm High School Varsity and Junior Varsity programs, but those teams will be governed by the Arizona High School Hockey Association (AHSHA). All players, regardless of age group, must be registered through USA Hockey.

Teams will practice Thursday evenings at Tim's Toyota Center and games will be held on weekends. The schedule should allow for minimal interference with other school sports and activities.

Per-player costs for the program have not been finalized but should cost between $700-$900 for the Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam age groups. High school fees have been set by the AHSHA and are $1,100 if players register by July 31. Beginning Aug. 1, the high school fees increase to $1,300.

Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro will serve as adviser to the PVYHA along with Prescott Storm High School Varsity Head Coach Steve Kasten and Prescott Youth Hockey Association member Tim Burkeen.

The PVYHA is currently looking for coaches, managers, volunteers and board members, including a treasurer and/or accountant with 501(c)(3) experience. If interested in coaching, visit the www.sonoranyhl.com for information and requirements. All coaches must be certified through USA Hockey.
