
Sundogs Fall in 5-4 Battle

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs fell to the Wichita Thunder in a 5-4 shootout, Wednesday night at Tim's Toyota Center. Brandon Coccimiglio tallied two goals and two assists for four points.
Newest signed goalie, Adam Brown looked great in net for the Sundogs tonight, blocking 41 shots. Arizona led after 20 minutes when Kevin Baker scored 12:35 into the first period from Coccimiglio and Justin Pender. Wichita got on the board 2:41 in the second while on a 5-on-3 man-advantage after Justin Pender was called for unsportsmanlike conduct and Mark Isherwood was given two minutes for slashing. Matt Summers tallied the power play goal with assists from Mike Wilson and Andrew Martens. Halfway through the middle frame Coccimiglio notched the Sundogs own power play goal and assists credited to Shawn Limpright and David Rutherford. The Thunder answered back, tying up the game with 2:06 to go in the second period with an unassisted goal from Dustin Donaghy.
The third period remained a back and forth battle when Donaghy scored his second goal of the night for Wichita, 11:35 into the third. Baker also scored his second of the night and 26 seconds later the Thunder's Jason Wilson took the short lived lead. Coccimiglio scored his second goal and fourth point of the evening 26 seconds later forcing the game into overtime. With the game still undecided after five minutes of overtime it headed into a five-round shootout. Matt Robinson scored the game winner for the Thunder.
Arizona was outshot by Wichita 46-39. Arizona was 1-1 on the power play and Wichita was 1-8. Both teams meet again Friday night.
