Summerside Storms Mill Rats at Harbour Station 110-96

(Saint John, NB): The Summerside Storm swept through Harbour Station on Friday evening, claiming a win over the Saint John Mill Rats with a final score of 110-96 in front of 2,251 fans.

The Mill Rats were outscored in the first quarter and followed a similar pattern to last evening, playing strong and outscoring the Storm in the second and fourth quarters but unable to claim the win this time on home court. The Mill Rats closed the first quarter trailing behind the Summerside Storm 24-27.

The Mill Rats closed the half 53-55, only a basket behind the Storm.

The third quarter the Summerside Storm played hard, gaining 5 offensive rebounds compared to the Mill Rats 1. With just under 4 minutes remaining in the third, the Storm were able to pull ahead to a ten point spread, 69-79. The Storm finished the third leading 91-75.

The Mill Rats fought back during the fourth, outscoring the Storm 21-19 but were unable to pull ahead. The Storm played a solid defensive game, claiming 10 offensive rebounds compared to the Mill Rats 3.

The Summerside Storm played hard this evening, coming off a loss against the #1 ranked London Lightning last night. They Storm are also ranked #1 in the league for offensive rebounds per game.

Kevin Francis and Steve Deluca each contributed 16 points, while Andrew Francis chipped in with 12. Mill Rats guards Anthony Anderson had 10 points and 10 assists while Darren Duncan added 11 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds.

Leading scorers for the Storm were Troy Jackson with an impressive 39 points and 7 rebounds, Louie McCroskey with 22 and Mike Williams with 20, adding 8 total rebounds and 5 assists.

The Saint John Mill Rats travel to Ontario this week taking on the Oshawa Power Wednesday evening and the London Lightning on Thursday evening. Watch the game online via the Mill Rats website.

The team was able to raise a total of $1,650.00 in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region by auctioning off the pink jerseys they wore last evening for "Cure On The Court".

The Mill Rats fall to 14-15 on the season while the Storm rises to 11-20.
