ROCHESTER, NY (Tuesday, August 04, 2015) As the Rochester Rattlers prepare for their run at the Major League Lacrosse Championship for the second season in a row, fans and followers of the franchise don't have to look very far down the Interstate 90 Thruway to find a Division 1 program that has deep ties in the team's success.

Syracuse University is a power house lacrosse program with a long history of NCAA championships and the highest level of athletes. The Rattlers are one of those teams that have prospered from the Orange's deep talent pool, as those players are a major factor behind Rochester's rise to one of the premier teams in the MLL.

Rattlers Head Coach Tim Soudan knows the value of getting players from SU. "We have a strong 'Cuse contingent on this team that makes a huge difference! Galloway, White and Lade anchor our defense with a level of communication and leadership that you rarely find in this league" Soudan stated. "The addition of Rice and Staats just makes our offense that much more dynamic. I never hesitate to pick a SU guy, as they are well coached and are all super competitive."

Back stopper John Galloway, the most prominent of the SU alums on the Rattlers squad, is in his fifth year with the team, and second being co-captain. He is a driving force behind every win and has proven to be one of the top goalies in the MLL, as is evident from his 2014 Goalie of the Year award.

John Lade (D) and Joel White (LSM) are two major contributors to the Rattlers rise over the past two seasons. White, being one of the most vocal leaders both in the locker room and on the field, has mastered the art of ground balls and transition play. Lade, a quiet dominant force on defense is a consistent performer, and has the quality every defender should have...you rarely ever hear his name mentioned. He helped make Rochester the premier defense in the league during the 2014 campaign.

With the addition of rookies Kevin Rice (A) (2015 ACC Offensive Player of the Year) and Randy Staats (M), the Rattlers have bolstered an already explosive offensive attack that has kept Rochester among the elites in the MLL. The acquisition of both talents and their immediate impact on the team's success goes to show the kind of players that come out of the Syracuse program.

Rochester faces the league leading New York Lizards this coming Saturday August 8th live from Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia for the MLL Championship Steinfeld Trophy. The game is televised on CBS Sports Network and starts at 7:00 pm EST. For more information on the MLL Championship weekend, log onto www.majorleaguelacrosse.com .
