Woodlands Strykers News Release

The Woodlands Strykers traveled to Dallas today to open up a two game series with the Texas Marshals. An accident on Interstate 45 south of Dallas made the team detour around the scene, but that did not hinder the Strykers as they won a commanding 7-1 ballgame.

The Strykers collected 11 hits on the night. In the third inning, Center fielder Zach Davis lined a single to left. Shortstop Conner Fikes would then come to the plate and draw a walk. Robert Heep would keep his hot hitting streak going as he would then line a double that scored Davis. Fikes would also score on the play by an error by the Marshals center fielder. The fourth inning would see back-to-back-to-back singles by Dirk Masters, the designated hitter, Left fielder Brian Smith and First baseman Taylor Taska. Third baseman Dalton Perry would then come to the plate and belt a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left for a Grand Slam. Heep would add a single in the fifth and come home on another single by Smith for the final run.

Matt Danton had another good outing for the Strykers. Danton pitched the first six innings, giving up no runs and striking out five batters. Danton would give way to Kevin Roy who would allow one run and strike out three batters in the seventh inning. Kael Jones would come in and pitch the final two innings, striking out four batters.

The two teams will return to action tomorrow night from Jesuit High School in Dallas at 7:05. The Strykers will then spend the night before heading east for Kilgore on Saturday for three games against the East Texas Pump Jacks. The teams will play one game Saturday and two games Sunday. The Strykers return home this coming Tuesday and Wednesday against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
