Strykers Take Down Marshals in the Woodlands

The Woodlands Strykers came from behind to take down the Texas Marshals 9-7 on Saturday night in The Woodlands in the first game following the All-Streak Break.

The Marshals got going offensively early in the ballgame. Oliver Christensen doubled in the top of the first inning and came into score on an RBI single by Carlos Contreras to give the Marshals a 1-0 lead.

The Marshals tacked on four more runs in the top of the third inning to pull ahead 5-0. Carson Shaddy and Contreras scored on an error by the Stryker's pitcher. Alex Gosser then singled home Chase Daughdrill and Gosser scored on an RBI double by James Stroud.

The Strykers answered with a run in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Mark Whitehead.

The Strykers then tied the game up at 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth. Greg Belton blasted a solo home run. Connor Kalisky added a two run double and Lance Miles scored on a fielder's choice.

The Marshals pulled back ahead at 6-5 in the top of the fifth as Daniel Rushing scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Christensen.

But the Strykers answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull ahead 8-6. Belton hit his second home run of the game and Kalisky added a two-run single.

Whitehead scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth to put the Strykers on top 9-6.

Daughdrill score on an RBI fielder's choice by Stroud in the top of the seventh to pull the Marshals within two runs at 9-7. But Hayden Barnett came on in the bottom of the ninth for the Stryekrs and retired the Marshals in order to secure the win and pick up the save.

Austin Brooks took the loss for the Marshals as he allowed eight runs on nine hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

With the win, the Strykers improve to 13-22 overall and 3-2 in the second-half. The Marshals fall to 10-22 with the loss and 2-3 in the second-half.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon for a 5:00 doubleheader in The Woodlands.
