Strykers Lose Heartbreaker; Will Honor Woodlands High School Baseball

The Strykers finished their series with the Bombers tonight in Bryan. The team lost a tough one as the Bombers came from behind to win the game in the bottom of the eleventh inning. The Strykers will now turn their attention to the Victoria Generals, who they open a two game series against starting tomorrow in Victoria.

The Strykers scored one run in the first inning, four in the fourth, two in the sixth, three in the seventh, and one in the eighth. The team had eight hits, and had eight runs batted in. Both Conner Fikes and Dirk Masters had two RBIs apiece. Robert Heep, Ricky Sanchez, Taylor Taska and Daniel Homann each had one RBI. The team also collected three runs on behalf of errors on the Bombers fielders.

Matt Danton started on the mound for the Strykers. He pitched 7 2/3 innings striking out two batters. Trever Storie, seeing his first action, pitched a total of one innings. Chris Thompson came in and recorded the final out in the eighth inning. Woodlands native, Austen Gunnels pitched then 11th inning.

The Strykers now travel to Victoria for two games starting tomorrow and Sunday. The team returns home for a two game series with the Bombers from Tuesday-Wednesday.
