Strykers Fall to Pump Jacks 6-3

The Woodlands Strykers returned home tonight to open a four game homestand against the East Texas Pump Jacks. The two teams battled neck and neck for most of the game until the Pump Jacks were able to pull away for a 6-3 win. The two teams will conclude their two game series tomorrow night at 7:05 from Strykers Stadium at The Woodlands Christian Academy.

For the game the Strykers managed five hits but were helped out by some errors made by the Cane Cutters. Conner Fikes was 2-4 on the evening. Landon Merka and Ricky Sanchez were each 1-4 with Kevin Santana going 1-3. Sanchez had a RBI single in the third that gave the Strykers their first run scoring Merka. Brian Smith would come in the game and hit into a fielder's choice and an error on the Cane Cutter resulted in two runs scoring, Santana and Masters who had gotten on earlier with a fielder's choice

Matt Danton started on the mound. The A&M Corpus Christi product continued to have great outings. In six innings, he struck out six and gave up three runs. Chase McDowell and Austen Gunnels combined to pitched the rest of the game.

Tomorrow night's game against the Pump Jacks is a Family Friday with Free Kids Admission and Post Game Autograph Session. The Acadiana Cane Cutters will come to town this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game is a Saturday Drive with Half Off GA Tickets with the donation of a non perishable food item to be donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands. The Sunday game is a Memorable Sunday with a chance to play catch on the field postgame(weather permitting), both games are scheduled for 7:05.
