Strong Recognized with Leadership Award
April 28, 2016 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) on Wednesday revealed their All-Division teams and awards, and Topeka captain Cam Strong was honored with the South Division Leadership Award.
Strong, a second year RoadRunner from Billings, MT appeared in 108 career games and collected 69 points. Committed to Dartmouth College, the 21 year old forward has collected numerous team awards. As a first year player in the 2014-15 season, his teammates voted him the winner of the John Stoddard Heart Award. This season, in addition to be named team captain, he also earned the team's "Hally Hat Award", a hard hat in memory of Peter Halash and his commitment to a strict work ethic. Additionally, his teammates named him the Most Valuable Player for the current season.
From the very beginning, Strong demonstrated that he was the type of young man who would lead by example. He volunteered for as many team appearances as possible. He always stayed late on the ice to work on skills. He was always the last to leave the rink every day, making sure all the team chores were done. On the road, it's always Strong with the attention to detail to make sure things go smoothly. He's been praised by coaches for being "the ultimate RoadRunner" and "a natural leader".
The league will be announcing other awards throughout the week.
