FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 10, 2012) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers, along with the San Antonio Scorpions, will honor Special Olympics Broward County at their game on July 14 at Lockhart Stadium, the club announced Tuesday.

"We are very happy and excited to recognize the amazing efforts of an organization like Special Olympics Broward County," said Strikers President Tim Robbie. "We hope the athletes will enjoy their day and have some great experiences they won't forget. I know our players will enjoy being a part of this event."

Following the game, players from both the Strikers and the Scorpions will sit together and hold a joint autograph session for all the Special Olympics athletes in attendance. A donation from Soccer for a Cause, through Morgan's Wonderland and the Scorpions helped make the event possible.

The San Antonio Scorpions donate all their net profits to Morgan's Wonderland, a San Antonio-based family fun park catering specifically to the special needs community. The park features 25 acres of rides and attractions, all accessible to those with special needs.

Through Morgan's Wonderland and Soccer for a Cause, athletes and families from Special Olympics Broward County will receive more than 100 free tickets to the game between the Strikers and Scorpions on July 14 at Lockhart Stadium before participating in the post game autograph session.

"Soccer for a Cause is a community-wide effort in San Antonio that has served as the building block for our soccer club, using the world's most popular game to benefit Morgan's Wonderland and the Special Needs community," said Scorpions President Michael Hitchcock. "The Scorpions joining with the Strikers to support Special Olympics Broward County shows our vision stays with us wherever we play."

The Strikers also donated more than 250 tickets to several other charitable organizations attending Saturday's game, including the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County, SOS Children's Villages, Pace Center for Girls, Kids in Distress, National Aid Foundation For Unprovided Children, A Safe Haven for Newborns, Children's Home Society Miami, Children's Home Society Broward, and Childnet.

Tickets for the game are available by calling (954)606-0400 or by going to Strikers.com. Follow the Strikers on facebook and twitter @FTLStrikers. All Strikers NASL games are broadcast online at Strikers.com/live.
