Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (March 10, 2014) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced the signing of midfielder Fabrice "Fafà" Picault for the 2014 campaign. As per club policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Picault, 23, is a 5 foot 8, 140 pound winger with ties to the area. Born in Manhattan, NY to Haitian parents, he moved to South Florida in his youth and played for a number of clubs in the area.

"Fafa is extremely fast, about as fast as Darnell," said Strikers Head Coach G-nter Kronsteiner. "With his speed he should be a tremendous help in the midfield, creating trouble for the other teams."

In 2006, at the age of 15, Fafà left South Florida to join the Cagliari Calcio in Italy. He played for the Cagliari youth and reserve teams and was also a member of the USA U-20 national team. Fafà left the Serie A club in 2011 after failing to make a first-team appearance.

Fafà returned to the United States in 2012 and joined Tampa Bay Rowdies after a successful showing at the 2012 NASL Combine. He made 19 appearances in the Rowdies' championship-winning season.

This season Fafà joins Bundesliga veteran Oka Nikolov and Miami-native Shawn Chin as the new faces in the Strikers dressing room. The club have also re-signed 15 players from last season's roster. More signings are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Foley released

The Strikers and David Foley have agreed to a settlement that releases Foley from his contract with the Strikers. Foley was signed prior to the 2013 season. He notched two goals in five appearances, but was injured during the match against Minnesota United FC and was sidelined for the remainder of 2013. The Strikers wish Foley success in his future.
