Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Thursday) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Matheus Carvalho have mutually agreed to part ways, the club announced today.
Carvalho, 24, was a high-profile addition to the Strikers in February. Prior to joining the club, the promising youngster competed in the UEFA Champions League with A.S. Monaco and in Brazil with Fluminense.
Due to injuries and lack of match fitness, the Brazilian winger was limited to just two starts in eight appearances for the Strikers across league and U.S. Open Cup play, scoring one goal, in a 3-1 road victory over Carolina RailHawks. Carvalho scored the winning penalty kick in the shootout against D.C. United in the Open Cup Fourth Round.
