FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Tuesday, June 23, 2015) - Fort Lauderdale Strikers midfielder James Marcelin has been named to the Haiti national team's 23-man roster for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The tournament kicks off with Haiti facing Panama in the opening match on July 7, at 7 p.m. EDT at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

"This is a great honor for James and a big opportunity for him to compete against the top nations in the region," said Strikers General Manager Amaury Nunes. "We are proud of his accomplishments and know James will represent the Strikers and the NASL well."

Marcelin, 28, has participated in two previous Gold Cups with Haiti. He was the youngest member of Haiti's Gold Cup squad in 2007, just 19 at the start of the tournament. Marcelin also participated in the 2009 edition, scoring a goal in Haiti's 2-0 victory against Grenada where he was also recognized as Man of the Match.

"It's always an honor to represent my country on the field," said Marcelin. "I'm very excited to compete in the Gold Cup again and help Haiti go far in the competition."

The 6-foot-2 defensive midfielder has earned more than two dozen caps for Haiti. Marcelin's last appearance came as a second-half substitute against Chile in an international friendly at the Strikers' Lockhart Stadium on September 9, 2014.

Marcelin has made seven appearances in competitive matches for the Strikers in 2015, leading the team with three assists. He made 15 appearances, all starts, for the Strikers in 2014 as the club reached the NASL Championship Final.
