Strikers Add Forward David Foley to 2013 Roster

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2013) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have announced the signing of forward David Foley for the 2013 season. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Over the past three seasons with the Puerto Rico Islanders, Foley has recorded 22 goals and 10 assists, while being named to the NASL's Best XI Team in 2011.
"Joining the Strikers for the 2013 season is very exciting. I know from experience they are a tough team to play against and now I'm part of that team," said Foley. "I'm looking forward to helping an already good group and can't wait to get the season started. I've always been impressed with the fans and their support, so hopefully that can continue and they can watch us become NASL champions in 2013."
During the 2012 NASL season, Foley was a key part of the Islanders' attack with six goals and three assists in NASL play. He showed a highly effective and balanced game in 2011 when he recorded seven goals and six assists on the season. The marks were good for 8th and 4th in the entire NASL, respectively.
Foley made his debut for the Puerto Rico Islanders in the 2010 season in grand style when he scored his first goal in the 12th minute of the season against the Minnesota Stars on April 21, 2010 at Estadio Juan Ram�"n Loubriel. Foley would go on to tie for the team lead in goals with nine, while picking up one assist as well. His first game against the Strikers came at home on June 2, when he scored a goal from the penalty spot.
Prior to coming to the United States, Foley played for English side Hartlepool United and helped the team win promotion to League One, the third-highest division in English soccer in 2007.
