Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
Lewy's Legion volunteers have been out waving to traffic on home game days since early January. The beeps and waves from all of you have been just tremendous!! The two middle fingers were less awesome, but if you've since gotten hooked on MAINEiacs hockey, we might consider forgiving and forgetting. As we've stood at several different intersections in Lewiston-Auburn, we've made some observations. If you're female, you wave right away! You guys out there play it more cool and go for the steering-wheel-hiyah. Over 65' You wave almost every time! If you've got a fancy car or are wearing a suit, it takes extra waving to get you to crack a smile. It's been great fun, and we'll continue to do this as we're able through the remainder of the season. Stay tuned to the Lewiston MAINEiacs facebook page, Lewy's Legion fb page, and the eblasts for your chance to join us out there. And now, drumrooooooollllllllllll...the Top 10 List.
10. The biggest volunteer crowd we had one Saturday in Lewiston. The employees at a nearby restaurant couldn't hear the drive-through customers over our horns and bells! A huge thank you to every one of you who has been out waving.
9. Number of drivers who have rolled down the window to ask about the team, game time, tickets.
8. Sum of the digits in today's temp (35 degrees) while we stood out.
7. Dogs in cars today.
6. Average number of drivers who gun and run red lights over 90 minutes.
5.0/50. The female/male ratio of drivers who honk the horn. It's pretty even!
4. Dollar bills one lovely older adult tried to donate. Equally the number of other drivers who beeped for her to move through the intersection.
3. Hot chocolates given to us by Karl Carter of Tim Hortons on Center Street.
2. Traffic mishaps witnessed.
1. This is a no brainer! The MAINEiacs are #1 !! See you at the rink!
