Stormers Complete Sweep of FerryHawks

Ethan Firoved and JT Weaver combined to check the Staten Island FerryHawks on three hits over seven innings Thursday night, pitching the Lancaster Stormers to a 10-3 victory.
With the win, the Stormers completed a three-game sweep of Staten Island and increased their overall streak against the FerryHawks to 25, dating back to July, 2025.
Firoved, called upon to make his first Lancaster start, threw 43 pitches over three innings, allowing only a solo homer to Brandon Wagner in the top of the second. Weaver (2-1) picked up the game in the fourth inning and fired four scoreless frames. The local right-hander yielded two hits and struck out four, twice pitching around a leadoff baserunner.
Lancaster recovered quickly from the 1-0 deficit created by the Wagner homer. With one out in the bottom of the inning, Nathan Martorella drew a walk and advanced to second on a single by Adam Hackenberg. David Smith drove a liner into the left field corner, scoring Martorella. Catcher Alfredo Sanchez cut Nick Decker's throw ahead of the plate and gunned down Smith at second for the second out of the inning. Dean Mihos rolled a single into left to score Hackenberg with the lead run.
Wilber Perez (0-3) kept his club within a run until Melvin Mercedes stroked a two-run homer over the tents in right in the home fourth. Hackenberg made it 5-1 with a double to the base of the right field wall in the fifth.
Five more runs scored in the seventh as the Stormers blew the game open. Aaron Schunk reached the deck for a leadoff homer. Corey Rosier walked, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a single up the middle by Nick Lucky. After Staten Island failed to get an out on a grounder by Joseph Carpenter on the right side, Martorella crushed a three-run homer to right for a 10-1 lead.
Staten Island fought back on consecutive opposite field RBI doubles by Blake Rutherford and Gary Mattis in the eighth.
Lancaster will entertain the High Point Rockers on Friday at 6:45. Matt Swarmer (1-5) will make the start for the Stormers against former Baltimore Oriole David Hess (6-4). Fans may follow the action on Dugout TV, powered by HomeTeam Network, beginning at 6:35.
NOTES: Mercedes has 12 RBI in his last seven games...Weaver had allowed 13 runs in six innings in his two starts but has a 3.86 ERA and two wins in long relief...The game ended on a slick 6-4-3 double play.
