Ottawa SkyHawks News Release
The Island Storm washed away the SkyHawks lead in the final minutes of the game resulting in a final score of 96-83.
The Ottawa SkyHawks came out firing on all cylinders to start the game going up 11-3 putting the Island Storm on their heels. The Storm clawed back into the game off of some poor shooting by the SkyHawks which saw the home team only down 20-19 to end the quarter.
In the 2nd frame, the SkyHawks began to settle for long shots which lead to quick run-outs by the Storm. The Home team lead 32-26 with 5:46 remaining in the half. Jerice Crouch kept the SkyHawks in the game with timely baskets and shooting a perfect 5-5 from the free-throw line. The quarter was a back and forth affair that saw Ottawa holding on to a 46-43 lead going into halftime.
The SkyHawks began the 3rd quarter looking very poised. Ottawa moved the basketball with ease and controlled the boards leading to easy layups. The tail end of the quarter proved to be a precursor for things to come as the storm rallied back from 20 points to close the margin to just 6 points heading to the final quarter.
The 4th quarter was a very tight affair with both teams matching blow for blow. With 3:52 left in the game, the SkyHawks clung to a 1 point lead after two big 3's by Justin Tubbs and Ryan Anderson. Once again Storm countered with two big 3's of their own by Nick Okorie putting the game out of reach for the SkyHawks.
