Great Lakes Storm News Release
Birch Run, MI (July 3, 2003) â The Great Lakes Storm announced today that half of all the team's home games played in the Birch Run Expo Center during the upcoming 2003-04 season, will be played on weekends, making it easier for fans to enjoy the excitement of professional basketball. On Friday, November 14, the Storm will host the Gary Steelheads as the two teams tip-off the CBA's 58th season, making it the oldest professional basketball league in the world.
"We are thrilled with our schedule." said Storm President and Head Coach Clay Moser. "More weekend dates creates a more festive atmosphere, is more conducive to family and company outings and therefore helps create what we are striving for. The most intimidating home court advantage in the CBA."
Great Lakes will play 24 home games during the 48-game schedule, with six of those home dates on Fridays, four on Saturdays and two on Sundays. On Thursday, November 27, the Storm will host the defending CBA Champion Yakima Sun Kings and second-year head coach Bill Bayno.
Month by month, the team plays three home games in November, nine games in December, five games in January, five games in February, and two games in March. Between December 12 and January 3, the Storm plays 10 of eleven games at home, with seven of those games on the weekend. The lone road game during that period is a Saturday contest in Rockford, IL, against the Lightning.
Season tickets and group tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling 989-624-4665. Ticket prices range from $7-$30 and are currently on sale also.
