Published on April 26, 2012 under Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release
Richmond, VA - Since the dawn of the 2012 IFL Coaches poll the top three teams have been the Sioux Falls Storm, Tri-Cities Fever and Allen Wranglers, respectively. That is no more. The Bloomington Edge have leapfrogged the Allen Wranglers for the third-place spot in the Week 9 IFL Coaches' Poll.
For the seventh consecutive week the Sioux Falls Storm (7-0) continue their dominance at the top of the IFL Coaches Poll. The Storm kept their top spot in the Week 9 IFL Coaches' Poll thanks to a 76-49 victory over the Nebraska Danger in Week 8.In that game Storm QB Chris Dixon accounted for nine total touchdowns; six through the air and three rushing. This week the Storm face the Omaha Beef (2-4). The Beef has been the only team to beat the Storm since the beginning of the 2011.
After a bye, the Tri-Cities Fever (7-0) hold on to the number two position. Headed by QB Houston Lillard the Fever will host the New Mexico Stars (2-4) in Week 10.
The Bloomington Edge (7-1) make a big move up this week as the team dethrones the Allen Wranglers for the third-place spot. The Edge, who are coming off a 46-39 victory over the Reading Express will face the fifth-ranked Green Bay Blizzard in Week 10, in a game that could ultimately decide the eventual playoff seeding.
Coming in a fourth, fifth and sixth respectively are the Allen Wranglers (5-2), the Green Bay Blizzard (5-2) and the Colorado Ice (4-3). Both the Wranglers and the Ice had bye weeks in Week 9. The Green Bay Blizzard drop one spot after being upset, 45-42, by the Chicago Slaughter in Week 9. Green Bay will face one of its biggest challenges this week as the team will take on the 7-1 Bloomington Edge Saturday night. The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks retain the seventh spot, after a bye, and must look for QB Dale Fink to replace QB Bryan Randall this weekend.
There are several new teams to enter the bottom third of the Coaches poll this week. The Omaha Beef (3-4) move back into the Top Ten this week and come in eighth this week. The Beef were able to knock off the Cedar Rapids Titans (2-5) in Week 9, 50-44.
The Wyoming Cavalry (3-5) move into the ninth spot and for the first time this season move into the Top Ten. The Cavalry who are on a two-game winning streak move up after being previously unranked.
