Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is proud to announce the signing of center Tom Yarbrough and defensive back Reiko Jones for the 2007 season. Both will be entering their first season of indoor football.
Yarbrough earned 2006 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Conference Second Team honors as a center at Southwest Minnesota State (SMSU). He helped SMSU rush for a total of 1,770 yards in 2005, which was the third highest in school history. Yarbrough also received the honor of being named team offensive player of the week in a 2005 game vs. Wayne State. Yarborough, who stands at 6'1 and 288 lbs., played his high school ball at St. Cloud Apollo where he was a four-year letter winner, two-time all-conference pick, and an all-area honorable mention.
Jones shined in 2002 as a true freshman for East Carolina University seeing action in all 12 games for the Pirates. At 5'9 170 lbs., Jones was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team after compiling 43 tackles, one interception, and a forced fumble in his rookie campaign. After taking the 2003 season off, Jones transferred to Upper Iowa University (UIU) in Fayette, Iowa where he red-shirted in 2004. Jones played in 10 games in 2005 and accounted for 29 tackles and three interceptions. Jones grew up in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where he was first-team all-state as a kick returner in 2001 at William T. Dwyer High School. Jones has been clocked as fast as 4.4 seconds in the forty-yard dash. Along with his speed, Jones has also been praised for his ability to tackle in the open field.
Storm President Colin Steen says, "These two will be the first of many newcomers to the Sioux Falls Storm. We want to bring in classy young men and class athletes to compete with our veterans for playing time. We expect this out of both Reiko and Tom."
