TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm are pleased to announce lineman Kevin Miller, defensive lineman Greg Taplin, and wide receiver Huey Whitaker have signed with the team.

"I am excited to come back to Tampa Bay and play in front of the tremendous fans," said Whittaker. "I am ready to go and expect a great year with all the new talent we have and can't wait to get active in the community."

Whittaker (6-foot-5, 220 lbs., South Florida) enters his fifth season in the Arena Football League. He previously played with the Storm in 2006 and 2007. Whittaker spent 2010 with two teams, the Spokane Shock and the Florida Tuskers, winning an ArenaBowl Championship with the Shock and advancing to the UFL Championship game with the Tuskers.

He played an integral role in Spokane's ArenaBowl Championship season as one of only two offensive starters to play in all 16 games during the regular season. During that span, Whittaker set franchise records for receptions (144), and receiving yards (1653). Whittaker was also recognized as a member of the All-AFL team. Despite suffering an injury during the 2010 season with the Tuskers, he recorded five catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.

An undrafted rookie free-agent out of college he originally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2004 and spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to joining the Jacksonville Jaguars that same season. He returned to the Jaguars in 2005 and was assigned to the Frankfurt Galaxy in NFL Europa. After leaving the Storm in 2007 Whittaker played with the Utah Blaze (2008) and New York Jets (2009).

Miller, (6-3, 330, Florida Atlantic) is a versatile lineman who played center, guard and tackle in college for the FAU Owls. A college teammate of current Storm defensive back Erick McIntosh, Miller played for the Owls from 2005 to 2009 and was a captain his redshirt senior season.

Taplin (6-5, 275, Michigan State) last played for the Storm in 2006 and appeared in five games. The former MSU standout played with the Berlin Thunder in 2005. He and fellow Storm wide receiver Hank Edwards played on the same high school football team Hollywood H.S. (Hollywood, FL.).

The Storm are universally recognized as one of the leading teams in the Arena Football League, setting numerous attendance records in its 23 years. The team won world championships in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996 and 2003, winning the last championship in front of a sell-out crowd of 20,496 at the St. Pete Times Forum.
