TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired defensive back Nick Williams, announced Storm Vice President of Football Operations Jeff Gooch.

"Nick is a hard worker and fits the mold of the type of player we look for in a defensive back," said Gooch. "We look forward to seeing him compete and welcome his addition to the team."

Williams (6-foot-3, 220 lbs., North Alabama) begins his Arena Football League career with the Tampa Bay Storm. The Bainbridge, Georgia native began his collegiate career at the University of Georgia before transferring to the University of North Alabama. Williams finished his senior season at North Alabama, having appeared in 13 games for the Lions and recording 62 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, two interceptions and two pass breakups.

Williams began his professional career in 2014 with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

The team placed jack linebacker Rick-J Hill on injured reserve. Hill started in all 13 games this season and was second on the team with 62.5 tackles. He also recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

The team reassigned offensive lineman Jarien Moreland. Moreland appeared in three games for the Storm.

The Five-Time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm is in its 28th season in the Arena Football League. The Storm will host "Community Cares Night," presented by Chase, when it hosts the Orlando Predators on Saturday, July 11, on AMALIE Motor Oil Field at Amalie Arena.
