Anaheim Storm News Release
Anaheim, CA (April 2, 2004) - The Anaheim Storm hosted their second largest crowd of the season as they celebrated Fan Appreciation Night. Fans left the game with prizes and gifts including authentic Storm branded Harrow shafts and autographed team jerseys. On the field, the Storm (1-13) stayed in the game for four quarters against San Jose (9-5) but the Stealth took the victory, 12-9.
"We played hard for the fans tonight," said Storm Head Coach Pat McCabe. "We continue to grow and learn as we finish our first year in Southern California. We have received a tremendous amount of support in the local area and we look forward to next season."
Forward Scott Stewart (1G, 1A) scored the first goal for Anaheim fifty-four seconds into the 2nd quarter. The first 30 minutes ended with San Jose leading 6-2 after Storm Captain Casey Powell (5G, 1A) scored his first goal of the night with less than two minutes left in the half. The Storm rallied in the second half with a total of seven goals including back-to-back goals from Powell and one apiece from Teddy Jenner (1G), Michael Law (1G, 2A) and Chris Panos (1G, 5A). With just under a minute to play, Powell scored his fifth goal of the night, tying the season record set by Michael Law on March 13th in Anaheim.
Josh Sanderson (3G) and Dan Teat (3G, 2A) led the Stealth. With a win against Calgary at home on Saturday night, the team will secure a play-off spot.
The Storm will finish the season on the road with a game in Colorado on Saturday night and a final match-up against Calgary on Friday, April 9th.
During the summer months, the Anaheim Storm plan to host lacrosse camps and clinics in the local area. Visit www.anaheimstorm.com for details. For information on 2004-2005 Season Ticket Packages, call 714-704-2670.
