Storm Set for Final Game of Three-Game Week

SIOUX CITY, IA. - The Tri-City Storm completes a three-game week tonight with a road matchup against the Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center. The Storm dropped a 5-3 road decision to the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box on Wednesday, and the team defeated the Sioux Falls Stampede by a final score of 6-3 last night at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. Six different goal scorers netted goals for Tri-City in last night's victory. Puck drop for tonight's road game against the Sioux City Musketeers is scheduled for 6:05pm CT.

Tri-City (7-9-0-1) enters tonight's game in 6th place in the USHL's Western Conference standings. The Storm picked up a bounce-back victory last night over Sioux Falls after dropping Wednesday's game to Lincoln. Kieran Cebrian, Evan Werner, Sebastian Törnqvist, Trevor Connelly, Ryan Smith, and Cale Ashcroft all netted goals for the Storm in the victory. Karlis Mezsargs improved to 5-5-0-0 on the season in goal for Tri-City after making 20 saves on 23 shots during the game. The Storm's six goals in last night's road game tied a season high for the most goals scored by the team in a game this year. Tri-City also set a new season-high for most powerplay goals scored during a single game this year in last night's victory. Kieran Cebrian, Sebastian Törnqvist, and Cale Ashcroft netted powerplay goals for the Storm in the 6-3 win. Tri-City is now 4-5-0-1 over the past ten games after last night's result. The Storm posted a 6-2-0-1 record against the Musketeers during the 2021-2022 regular season, and fell to Sioux City in the Conference Final round of the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs. The Storm dropped the only previous meeting this season between the two teams by a final score of 5-2 on October 21st at the Tyson Events Center. Tri-City will return to action next weekend with back-to-back road games against the Des Moines Buccaneers and Omaha Lancers following tonight's battle against Sioux City.

Sioux City (8-6-2-0) defeated the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday at the Tyson Events Center. Grant Slukynsky, Tomek Haula, and Ben Poitras scored in the victory. Poitras' goal was the overtime game-winner less than a minute into the overtime period. The Musketeers were idle last night, and tonight's home game against the Storm is the team's only game of the weekend. Sioux City has won seven of its last ten games, and is 6-3-1-0 on home ice this season. Scoring leaders for the Musketeers through the opening sixteen games of the 2022-2023 regular season include Ryan Conmy (10), Kaden Shahan (6), Ben Poitras (5), Sam Deckhut (4), and Dylan Godbout (4). The Musketeers have posted a 6-7-1-2 record against the Storm in games played on home ice in the last five seasons. Following tonight's home game against the Storm at the Tyson Events Center, Sioux City will hit the road for back-to-back games next weekend against the Omaha Lancers and Des Moines Buccaneers.
