New Jersey Storm News Release
East Rutherford, NJ - The New Jersey Storm (2-8) play host to the Albany Attack (3-6) in a non divisional match-up on Friday evening, February 28th at the Continental Airlines Arena at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive free Storm collectors' lights. New Jersey will be trying to break a frustrating seven-game losing streak. The game will be the home debut for new Storm Head Coach Peter Vipond.
The Storm remain in third place in the Eastern Division, sitting just two games out of second place. The team is being paced by forward Roy Colsey (24G, 18A), who recently became the team's all-time leading single-season goal scorer, surpassing former Stormer Matt Panetta's mark of 21, set last year. Following closely in the scoring department continues to be second-year forward Scott Stewart (19G, 11A) with 30 points and Cam Bomberry (12G, 12A) with 24 points. New Jersey native Mike McGovern saw his first career NLL action at Philadelphia and is expected to make his home debut on Friday.
Derek General (1-6) has played the bulk of the year in net, but starter Matt Roik (1-1) returned to action in the Philadelphia road loss after being sidelined seven weeks with a knee injury and arthroscopic surgery.
Albany, last season's NLL Champions Cup finalist, enters the game in last place in the Central Division. The Attack come off a 19-15 defeat of Colorado at home last Friday evening. Headlining the offense for the Attack are forwards Gary Rosyski (20G, 24A) and Josh Sanderson (15G, 28A). Minding the Albany net is last season's NLL Goaltender of the Year, Rob Blasdell, who has recorded 255 saves and a record of (3-4).
Last year, the Storm dropped both contests to Albany, 20-16 on November 16, 2001 in Albany and 13-5 on December 8, 2001 at the Meadowlands.
