Storm Players Earn AFL Awards

TAMPA - Tampa Bay Storm fullback/linebacker Torrance Marshall was named Ironman of the Month for the month of April and wide receiver/linebacker Lawrence Samuels earned Ironman of the Week for Week 9.

"It is nice to see Torrance and Lawrence earn those honors," said Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum. "They have worked their tails off and played hard."

Marshall (6-foot-3, 260 pounds, Oklahoma) recorded five touchdowns and 132 yards of offense along with 7.5 tackles and 1.5 sacks in four games. His best performance came last weekend during the Storm's 48-41 victory in the "War on I-4" over Southern Division Rival the Orlando Predators. Marshall recorded 24 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, 26 yards receiving and 2.5 tackles on defense as the Storm held the Predators to a season-low 41 points.

Samuels (6-3, 220, Livingston) recorded a team-high five receptions for 45 yards and and one tackle in the Storm victory over the Predators. He made an impact on both sides of the ball as he scored a touchdown on both offense and defense. Samuels scored Tampa Bay's first touchdown on a six-yard strike to tie the game at seven. Then on the second play in the fourth quarter he intercepted Predator quarterback Shane Stafford and returned the interception eight yards for a touchdown to give Tampa Bay a 17-point lead.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet the Tampa Bay's Ironman this Friday, May 2 as he signs autographs at the premier of the movie Iron Man at the Centro Ybor Muvico. Samuels will arrive at 6:00 p.m. and sign autographs for an hour before the 7:00 p.m. Iron Man premiere.

In conjunction with the outing the Tampa Bay Storm are offering The Ironman Package which includes a ticket to the premiere of Iron Man as well as a ticket to the nationally televised Cinco de Mayo game between the Tampa Bay Storm and Chicago Rush on Monday, May 5. "Ironman" ticket packages start at $25 dollars and for $15 dollars fans can join the pregame tailgate with Shane's Rib Shack and get all you can eat bar-b-que and beer, soda and water.
