HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (Oct. 10, 2008) - The Chicago Storm professional indoor soccer team's Xtreme Soccer League debut takes place in mid-December, and the squad is looking for a few good men to solidify its 2008-2009 roster. The Storm and head coach Steve Morris announce an open tryout from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, and Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Sports Zone, 1945 Cornell Ave., in Melrose Park, Ill. Day-of-the-event registration opens at 7 a.m. Nov. 3.
"We are eager to provide them with an opportunity to show their skills and the untapped talent that they have, whether they are from the Chicago area or outside," Morris said of potential open tryout candidates. Participants are responsible for their own housing, food and transportation.
Prospective candidates from the Storm's open tryouts then are brought back to an invitational combine, which runs from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 29, at Sports Zone. The invitational is closed to the general public, and invitations are chosen by Coach Morris.
The Storm have secured key player personnel from open tryouts in the past, such as defenders Chris Brisson and Branko Savic from the Storm's 2007-2008 roster, and former players such as Detroit Ignition goalkeeper Danny Waltman and Milwaukee Wave defender Tijani Ayegbusi.
Applicants must fill out a tryout registration form and waiver form, available online at www.ChicagoStorm.net.
TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS:
Practice gear: Applicants should wear shorts, shirt, shin guards, indoor soccer shoes and socks.
Tryout application: Applicants must fill out the Chicago Storm Open Tryout Application and Xtreme Soccer League Waiver form and mail them or drop them off to Steve Morris at Chicago Storm, 5333 Prairie Stone Pkwy., Hoffman Estates, IL, 60192. The application can be brought to the first day of open tryouts, as well.
Processing fee: There is a $40 processing fee for the Storm's open tryout. Checks are made payable to the Chicago Storm.

Tryouts consist of tactical training, full-field play and general fitness. Walk-ins on the day of tryouts are accepted, but pre-registration is recommended. The Storm's 2008-2009 Xtreme Soccer League season opener takes place Sunday, Dec. 14, at the New Jersey Ironmen, and the Storm's home opener is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, against the Milwaukee Wave. Storm home games are played at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, and team practices are held at Sports Zone in Melrose Park.
