Storm Offense Sputters, Fall to Soul 83-48

Philadelphia - The Philadelphia Soul (5-1, 1-1) defeated the Tampa Bay Storm (3-3, 2-1) by a score of 83-48 in front of 9,371 fans Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The Storm offense sputtered in the first half turning the ball over three times and failed to convert on two fourth downs as the Soul took a 48-14 lead into the half.

Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh led the Soul with 278 yards passing and eight touchdowns as he completed 16-of-21 passes. His primary receiver was Tiger Jones who finished the night with four touchdown receptions. Derrick Ross, the AFL's leading rusher added two scores on the ground.

Tampa Bay was led by Chandler Williams who led all receivers with 127 yards receiving on seven catches. He added two touchdowns. Tom Kaleita, who was moved to fullback to add protection for Storm quarterback Stephen Wasil, scored two touchdowns on the ground, his first career rushing touchdowns. Wasil finished the game with 225 yards and three touchdowns as he completed 21-of-35 passes and had one interception. Back-up Matt Grothe got into the game and completed two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.

The Tampa Bay Storm returns home next week to the Tampa Bay Times Forum and host the Kansas City Command on Alumni Night, Monday, April 30. The team will honor three recent Hall of Fame inductees and retire the jersey of fan-favorite and future Hall of Famer Lawrence Samuels. The game is the AFL national game of the week on a special NET10 Arena Football Friday on NFL Network with an 8:00 PM kickoff.
