Storm Makes Trade and Release Three
October 24, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Island Storm News Release
(Charlottetown, PEI) Following their inter-squad game Thursday night at Westisle Composite High School in Bloomfield, the Island STORM have executed a trade with the Brampton A's and cut 3 players from their training camp roster.
The STORM have traded Canadian forward Chris Cayole along with their 2nd and 3rd round draft picks in next year's NBL Canada draft to Brampton in exchange for the A's two first round draft picks in 2015. Brampton had acquired the extra 1st round pick in a trade earlier this week with the Halifax Rainmen. This deal gives the STORM three 1st round picks in next year's NBL Canada draft.
Meanwhile, the STORM released Canadian center Shamus Ferguson along with guard CJ Trotter and forward Jordan Coleman. This pares the STORM roster to 16 with more cuts to come before the STORM home opener Thursday November 6th at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
"This was a tough move to make for our organization," says STORM Head Coach Joe Salerno, "but I believe the right one. Chris is a tremendous player and will be a nice addition to the Brampton A's franchise. Truth be told, we are extremely deep at that small forward position right now, with a lot of talent, and we had to make a move. We received some great value for Chris in two 1st round picks in 2015, now giving us a total of three picks in that first round. We wish Chris all the best in Brampton, and continued success in his career. I am glad we were able to send him to such a first class organization like the A's."
Next action for the STORM happens this coming Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock at Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside when the team takes on the Saint John Mill Rats. All proceeds from this game go toward the "In our Backyard" breakfast and lunch program at Three Oaks with admission $5 per person. As an added bonus, the STORM are giving a coupon for a free ticket to the teams home opener on November 6th to go along with the $5 admission to the exhibition game in Summerside.
Season tickets and single game tickets continue to be on sale at the Eastlink Centre Box Office.
STORM Fans purchasing VIP floor seat season tickets or luxury boxes for the coming season will enjoy the Exclusive VIP Pre-Game Reception before each and every STORM home game at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino with a VIP Parking Pass for the first 70 STORM Fans purchasing 2 or more season tickets.
All STORM season ticket holders will receive an "Everybody Loves a STORM Day" Ice Scraper and an invitation to our exclusive STORM season ticket holder pre-season reception and mid-season reception to meet all the STORM Players and Coaching Staff.
For details on STORM tickets and purchases visit the Eastlink Centre Box Office, open Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm or phone the box office at 902-629-6625."â¹
