March 30, 2005 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY – The five-time ArenaBowl Champion Tampa Bay Storm made a pair of trades in the two days leading up to the AFL Trade Deadline at 4 p.m. on March 30.

On Wednesday Tampa Bay sent WR/LB David Saunders to the Grand Rapids Rampage in exchange for the rights to OL/DL Paul LaQuerre, and today they acquired the rights to DS Fred Booker from the Nashville Kats in exchange for WR/DB T.T. Toliver.

A three-year Arena Football veteran, LaQuerre was the only player to start all 16 games for the Rampage last season, when he set a career high in tackles with 12.

A 6-foot-2, 290-pound native of West Barnstable, Massachusetts, LaQuerre was named the Lineman of the Year for the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2003 prior to being traded to Grand Rapids. He made his AFL debut with New Jersey in 2002.

LaQuerre played his college ball at Boston College where he was a regular on the Eagle's offensive line. During his high-school career he earned All-America honors from USA Today and All-Region status from Blue Chip Illustrated, Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report and Super Prep magazine.

A 5-foot-9, 199-pound native of Independence, Louisiana, Booker spent the 2004 season with the New Orleans Saints, but did not appear in any games. He was originally signed by the Saints as a free agent cornerback on January 27, 2004.

While at Louisiana State, Booker started in every game during his junior and senior seasons from 1997-2000. During his college career he recorded 126 tackles (83 solo), four interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Following his graduation he attended training camps with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2001, the San Francisco 49ers in 2002 and spent time with the Washington Redskins in 2003.

The Storm host the Southern Division leading Georgia Force this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum. For tickets call 813.301.6600 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
