NEW YORK â The AFLWA's No. 1 Georgia Force (7-2) continue to battle through the competitive Southern Division when they travel to St. Pete Times Forum to face the Tampa Bay Storm (4-4) this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on FSN South, Sun Sports and INHD.
Rookie head coach DOUG PLANK has looked to "Thunder and Lighting" â AFLWA's All-Arena Mid-Year WR/LB DEREK LEE (6-5, 225, Tennessee Tech) and Rookie of the Mid-Year OS TROY BERGERON (6-2, 190, Middle Tennessee State) â to rain down on his Southern Division opponents in 2005. The two have combined for 128 receptions and 42 touchdowns, while veteran signal caller MATT NAGY (6-2, 220, Delaware) has stepped in for the injured All-Arena QB JIM KUBIAK and completed 104-of-160 (65.0%) passes for 1,297 yards and 29 touchdowns.
The Storm have made the postseason in all 18 years of their existence (including 1987-90 in Pittsburgh) and hot-handed QB SHANE STAFFORD (6-3, 210, Connecticut) looks to continue the trend. The former Husky has completed 215-of-326 (66.0%) passes for 2,375 yards and 47 touchdowns.
NBC features the No. 8 Los Angeles Avengers (5-3) traveling to TD Waterhouse Centre to face the No. 5 Orlando Predators (6-3) and the Philadelphia Soul (4-5) heading to Nationwide Arena to face the Columbus Destroyers (1-7) â both on Sunday at noon ET. New York Dragons head coach WEYLAN HARDING will join AFL on NBC studio host AL TRAUTWIG and analyst GLENN PARKER in the studio for halftime commentary and postgame wrap-up interviews.
In Orlando, U.S. Ironman of the Year candidates WR/DB KEVIN INGRAM (6-0, 195, West Chester) and WR/LB CORY FLEMING (6-3, 215, Tennessee) meet. Ingram leads the Avengers in receiving yards (543) and touchdown receptions (12), while Fleming leads the Predators in receptions (40) and receiving touchdowns (14).
In Denver, an important American Conference matchup ignites when the AFLWA's No. 3-ranked, Central Division-leading Colorado Crush (6-2), who have won five straight, and OS DAMIAN HARRELL (6-3, 200, Florida State) host the Las Vegas Gladiators (5-4) and QB CLINT DOLEZEL (6-5, 195, East Texas State), who is coming off an AFL record-tying 11 touchdown passes last week, at the Pepsi Center this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on Comcast-Colorado and AFL Net.
On the east coast, the Chicago Rush (4-4) and U.S. Army Ironman of the Year candidate WR/LB ETU MOLDEN (6-2, 195, Montana) continue their fight for an American Conference postseason spot when they head to Nassau Coliseum to play the AFLWA's No. 2-ranked, Eastern Division-leading New York Dragons (6-2) and QB AARON GARCIA (6-1, 195, Sacramento State) this Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on FSN and The Score-Canada. Both teams need victories to keep pace in their respective conferences.
