
Storm hold autograph session for those contributing to hurricane relief efforts

TAMPA BAY - Players from the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning and five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm will sign autographs from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 3 for those contributing to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts being held at the St. Pete Times Forum.
Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk, the Lightning's Stanley Cup Game 7 hero Ruslan Fedotenko, Storm quarterback Shane Stafford, All-Arena FB/LB Lawrence Samuels, OL/DL Nyle Wiren, WR/DB Clif Dell and FB/LB Umar Muhammad will be in attendance supporting those who bring donations to the St. Pete Times Forum.
In an effort to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, the St. Pete Times Forum, Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Storm are teaming up to serve as a donation collection center. Donations will be accepted in the McDonald's Box Office on the Chrysler-Jeep Plaza of the St. Pete Times Forum, 24 hours a day, seven days of week. Those looking to contribute to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort should bring their donation to the plaza any time, or to any of the following upcoming events:
Friday, 9/2 - Scream Tour
Saturday, 9/3 - Reggaeton Explotion
Saturday, 9/10 - Lightning Ice Fest
One hundred percent of all donations will be allocated for both front-line disaster relief and long-term recovery needs. Goods will be delivered by Mayflower Moving to Hearts With Hands, Inc. for distribution to affected areas. Hearts With Hands, Inc. is a nondenominational, humanitarian, non-profit, 501 (C) 3, charitable organization providing physical, spiritual, medical, economic, and other necessary aid to victims of poverty, natural disaster or famine. Hearts With Hands, Inc. was founded in 1992 in response to Hurricane Andrew (Southern Florida) and since then Hearts With Hands, Inc. has responded to almost every major disaster in the world.
The St. Pete Times Forum will accept monetary donations as well as the tangible items listed below.
Donations Needed:
- Bottled Water
- Non-perishable food items
- Convenience foods
- Can openers
- Baby food, Diapers, wipes
- Hygiene items
- Picnic supplies
- Small charcoal grills and charcoal
- Tools, gloves, tarps, plastic, construction materials
- Over the counter medication
- First aid kits
- Flashlights, batteries and candles
- Trash bags
- Generators
- Chain saws
