Island Storm News Release
(Charlottetown, PE) It only seems like yesterday the Island STORM broke training camp for their 4th NBL Canada season and now they are in a race for the top overall seed for the playoffs with just three weeks left in the regular season.
The Island STORM currently hold a 19-8 record with their magic number down to 1 to win the Atlantic Division and home court advantage in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the NBL Canada playoffs.
But the STORM are also playing for the top overall seed in the playoffs. Their 19-8 record is the same as the Windsor Express who lead the Central Division by 5 games while the STORM lead their division by 4.5. Top overall seed gives that team home court advantage throughout the playoffs. If the STORM and Windsor were to finish tied, the Express hold the tie-breaker as they have a better point differential between the two teams as each has beaten the other this season.
The STORM play once this week, Thursday night in Saint John against the Mil Rats at 7pm. This game leads to their next home game coming up Monday February 16th at 2pm. It's the STORMS Annual Islander Day Game with the opposition being the London Lightning, the team the STORM met in their first trip to the NBL Canada Finals two seasons ago. The STORM/London rivalry has always been a good one and and many have circled the Islander Day Game on their calendar as a can't miss event.
So with the NBL Canada going into the final three weeks of the regular season there's plenty on the line. And that's good news for STORM Fans and Fans of the NBL Canada.
