Storm First in Atlantic Division with Overtime Win in Halifax

(Charlottetown, PE) The Island STORM made it 2 for 2 in overtime games on the road when they used an extra session to beat the Halifax Rainmen 113-106 Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Centre. With the win the STORM take over sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division with a 7-5 record while the Rainmen fall to 5-4.

It was a total team effort from the STORM as they saw 7 players score in double figures. The STORM continues to get great production from the bench as Sammy Zeglinski and Brandon Robinson continue to sit out due to injury.

Billy Rush led the STORM attack with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Avery Smith scored 20 points, Olu Famutimi had 15 and 7 rebounds, Mike Williams scored 14 with 7 boards, Rashad Whack scored 14, former Rainmen Mike Martin had 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Louis Birdsong scored 12 to go with 8 boards.

Joey Haywood was top point getter for Halifax with 22 while former STORM player Chris Cayole had 18.

The STORM play once more before Christmas as they are on the road in Moncton next Saturday against the Miracles then play at home on Boxing Day and New Year's Eve to close out 2014.
