Chicago Storm News Release

CHICAGO, IL -The Chicago Storm announced on Thursday, February 01, 2007, that midfielder John Ball has been fined for violating team and league policy for comments detrimental to the team following the Storm's game Wednesday January 24th, versus the California Cougars. As per team policy, the amount of the fine will remain undisclosed.

"I would like to apologize to the entire California Cougars organization and Coach Troy Dayak for my comments that were printed in The Record. They were not appropriate, and I accept full responsibility for my actions," said Ball. "I enjoyed my time in the city of Stockton. I enjoyed interacting with the fans and my teammates while I was there and I would like to extend my deepest regrets to those I may have offended. I must work to keep my emotions in check at all times, and I intended to make this a priority in my life. "

"There's no reason or place in any sports organization for the types of comments made after the game in California. Theses types of statements are embarrassing to the Chicago Storm and the MISL as a whole," said Chicago Storm COO and GM Brian Loftin. "We have so many things to work on as individual teams both on and off the field and collectively as a league. Statements like those made on Wednesday detract from our ability focus on the tasks at hand. I do not expect to have to deal with this type of issue again."
