(Charlottetown, PE) Kevin Young of the Halifax Rainmen went for 36 points and 8 rebounds to lead the Halifax Rainmen to a 117-99 win over the Island STORM in the opening game of the NBL Canada Atlantic Division playoffs at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on Thursday night. Young was 17-22 from the foul line while shooting 72% from the field and 60% from behind the arch. Meanwhile, Joey Haywood added 17 points for the winners.
The STORM got 19 points from Mike Martin while Nick Evans scored 16 and grabbed 8 rebounds. Rashad Whack scored 14 for the STORm and handed out 6 assists, Olu Famutimi 13 points, and Brandon Robinson scored 11 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and handed out 6 assists.
The Rainmen held a 2 point lead after the first quarter and took a 60-49 lead into the dressing room at the half.
Game two in the best of seven series goes Friday night in Halifax at 7 o'clock.
Eastlink TV will broadcast Friday nights game on a tape delay basis starting at 9:30pm while doing games three and four at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown live.

I sland STORM Fan John O'Connor has put together a STORM Fan Bus for Game Two of the Atlantic Division Finals in Halifax Friday. The cost is $35 a seat and includes a game ticket. The bus will leave the Sears Parking Lot in Charlottetown at 2:30pm on Friday afternoon and arrive back in Charlottetown at 1am following the game.
