Storm ditch black and yellow for Green Jersey Auction

Chicago Storm News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - The Chicago Storm's next two matches are against a Mexican-based team, but an annual Irish salute takes place as a prelude to St. Patrick's Day. The Storm hold their Green Jersey Auction during the first half of their match against La Raza De Monterrey on March 8. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Storm players ditch their black and yellow jerseys for green, and fans bid on them - the actual, game-worn jerseys! Bids start at $75, and you can don your favorite player's green jersey: Matthew Stewart, Stephen Armstrong, Jim Larkin and more! Interested fans place their bids throughout the first half of the March 8 game. All proceeds go toward the Kids-4-Soccer Foundation, which benefits underprivileged children in the Chicago area.

As soon as halftime ends, the bidding is closed and the winners are announced during the fourth quarter. Jerseys are then washed, autographed and mailed to the winning bidders.

The day also marks the second annual Girl Scouts of the USA Kick-It with the Chicago Storm. Girl Scouts earn a special commemorative Storm patch after completing various skill, team-building and strategic stations conducted by select Storm players before their home match. The stations include trapping, passing, dribbling and shooting, as well as team-building lessons about sportsmanship and communication.
