EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ â The New Jersey Storm pro indoor lacrosse team today announced its television schedule for the 2002-2003 season. Fox Sports Net â New York will cover three Storm home games this season beginning with the team's home opener versus the Columbus Landsharks on Saturday, January 4th at the Continental Airlines Arena (a game that will air on a tape delayed basis on Sunday, January 5th at 2:00 p.m.). The Thursday, February 6th game versus the Philadelphia Wings will air live at 7:30 p.m., while the Storm's Sunday, March 23rd contest versus the Colorado Mammoth will run on a same-day tape delay at 4:00 p.m. The Storm is a member of the 12-team National Lacrosse League (NLL).
New Jersey Devils and New York Mets announcer Matt Loughlin returns for his second season of Storm play-by-play. Marc Riccio and Joey Wahler also return as the color commentator and sideline reporter respectively. Jeff Strauss will produce this year's telecasts. Fox Sports Net â New York is available on six-million homes in the tri-state area.
The Storm (5-11) finished strongly in its inaugural season last year, winning four of its last six games. The team made headlines recently by signing 23-year old goalkeeper Ginny Capicchioni, the first female player in the 17-year history of the NLL and the first female player ever in a major men's team sport in North America. The Oradell, NJ native is a former lacrosse and field hockey standout at Sacred Heart University in the Northeast Conference (Division I).
