Birch Run, Mich. (August 28, 2003)- President and Head Coach Clay Moser has chosen a right-hand man for the upcoming season. Sean Tyson was named Assistant Coach for the Great Lakes Storm today.

Originally from Baltimore Maryland, Sean was a member of the famed Dunbar High School basketball teams, which has produced several Division I and professional players. He played at Clemson University along side NBA veterans Dale Davis (Portland Trailblazers) and Elden Campbell (Detroit Pistons) and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Human Development in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management.

As a professional basketball player, Tyson's ten-year career led him to four different countries, the United States, Canada, Venezuela, and France. He was a first round draft pick (10th pick) for the Grand Rapids Hoops (CBA) in 1991. In the fall of 2000, after retiring from playing, Tyson began his coaching career with a concentration on player development with the Grand Rapids Hoops (CBA) where he was a consultant for two consecutive seasons.

During the off season, Tyson works many elite level basketball camps and develops individual improvement workouts for pro and college athletes; such as Sean Colson (NBA/CBA), former Great Lakes Storm star and Atlanta Hawks (NBA) call-up Jermaine Jackson, Chicago Bulls draft pick Sean Lampley, and players from Michigan State University such as Chris Hill, Allen Anderson, and Paul Davis. "I am very happy for Sean," says Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo. "His enthusiasm and ability to relate to and develop players will be a great asset to the Storm program. I think Sean possesses all of the qualities to become an outstanding coach, and I wish him the very best."

"Sean Tyson is a very hard worker," declares Mark Hughes, Assistant Coach for the Orlando Magic (NBA). "He is excellent in individual workouts for players. Tyson will be a tremendous asset to the Storm organization. He has helped me in Grand Rapids on many occasions. He was great working the Free Agent Camps, as well as working the practices and games. Sean has a bright future in basketball."

"Over the last twelve years I have had the privilege to work with some outstanding coaches at our basketball camps. Without a doubt, Sean is the very finest. Sean possesses both a broad technical knowledge of coaching and outstanding people and children skills. All of the staff, both management and coaches recognize his commitment to the game. Sean stands out as a coach because of his knowledge of the game, which has made him a critical member of our team in every phase of our work", said Glenn Carraro, Director of Camps and Assistant to the General Manager, Los Angeles Lakers.

During the 2001-2002 season, Tyson was named assistant coach for the Saskatchewan Hawks (CBA, Saskatoon, Canada) and during the Storm's inaugural season, Tyson was Director of Player Development and Video Coordinator. "We are fortunate to have a young, hungry and talented person such as Coach Tyson to believe in what we are trying to accomplish here," states President and Head Coach Clay Moser. "His presence has already paid dividends for us."
