Tri-City Storm News Release
KEARNEY, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm have announced their annual promotions schedule for the 2013-14 season. The list includes many traditional staples like Pink in the Rink and Pack It In Purple, as well as some new additions.
The Storm open their schedule in Kearney at the Viaero Event Center against Lincoln on Sept. 28 and all fans in attendance will be treated to a free barbeque before the game, as well as a fireworks show at the conclusion of the contest, presented by Viaero Wireless.
Following up opening night is the annual Pink in the Rink event on Oct. 4, raising money to support breast cancer research. Tri-City will wear limited edition pink uniforms as part of the pink-themed night.
Two consecutive home nights on Oct. 11 and 12 will bring Rivalry Puck Night and Fire and Ice Night. This year's commemorative Rivalry Puck will show the Storm and the Sioux City Musketeers. Fire and Ice Night on Oct. 12 against Waterloo will serve as an appreciation for Firefighters in the Tri-City area.
Cedar Rapids will visit Kearney on Oct. 19 when the Storm present Duck Dynasty Night, featuring Mountain Man from the acclaimed A&E television show. The neighbor of the Robertson family will be in attendance to meet and greet fans.
Stormy's Birthday once again will fall on Boy Scout Day, which will take place on Dec. 14 when the Youngstown Phantoms come to town. Keeping with tradition, the game will get an afternoon start at 3:05 p.m.
In addition to holiday events like Ugly Sweater Night on Nov. 30 and Stuff Your Stocking Night on Dec. 13, the Storm will present Toy Story Night on Dec. 28. Fans in attendance will get a closer look at some of Disney's most famous toys who come to life.
The always popular Pack It In Purple game will be on Feb. 22 against the Lincoln Stars. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and get loud as Tri-City will be battling one of their in-state rivals.
Excitement will be high when the calendar turns to March as the race for the playoffs heats up. The Storm will present Lap Dog Races for the third consecutive year on Mar. 8 against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Mar. 15 marks the return of Superhero Night as the Storm take on Sioux City.
Single game tickets are now on sale for each of these promotion dates online and at the Viaero Event Center Box Office.
For a second year the Storm will continue to offer their Free Kids Friday promotion for every Friday night home game during the 2013-14 season. All kids ages 12-and-under will receive free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket.
The Viaero Event Center will also host a free post-game skate 11 times throughout the year.
Tri-City has also made one change to their schedule since it was announced last month. The game originally scheduled for Mar. 23 with the Green Bay Gamblers has been moved to Mar. 21.
