Storm and Extreme Ready for United Bowl Clash

The stakes could not be bigger for the first ever playoff meeting between the Sioux Falls Storm and the Bloomington Extreme. The teams will take to the Sioux Falls Arena turf on Saturday for the United Bowl title. The Storm has had amazing success in the playoffs as the team has compiled a 12-3 all-time playoff record including 3-1 in championship games. The 2008 season marks the third year of the Extreme's existence and their second playoff appearance after falling in the Eastern Conference Championship last year.

The Extreme locked up their first United Bowl appearance with a great 33-7 victory against the RiverCity Rage in the Eastern Conference Championship. The Extreme have an 8-7 record and will face the Storm for the third time this season. The Storm won both of the prior meetings during Week 1 and 15.

The Extreme offense is led by quarterback Dusty Burk. Burk is second in the league in touchdown passes with 47. He also threw for 2,620 yards during the season. Receiver James Walton is second in the league in receptions (84) and first in the league in receiving yards (1,079). Receiver Derin Graham is fifth in the league in receiving yards per game (58.1). Walton and Graham have the second most receptions for a tandem in the UIF with 149, behind only the Storm?s James Terry and Brian Alberty with 150 receptions.

The Extreme defense has been struggling as of late, allowing 44.1 points per game. The Extreme defense ranks last in rushing defense and second to last in passing defense, but had a great performance against RiverCity, giving up only 7 points. Quince Holman leads the team in tackles with 77.0, which ranks 9th in the UIF. Holman also has 7.0 sacks, which ranks fifth in the league.

The annual Fan Appreciation Celebration has been schedule for Monday, July 14 at 6:00 PM. Win or lose in United Bowl, the event will take place at the Sioux Falls Arena and is FREE and open to the public. Food and beverage will be provided for fans in attendance and an autograph signing will take place before the formal part of the celebration.
