Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is proud to announce the addition of two more players for the 2007 season. The Storm has added wide receivers Allen Burrell and Chris Pomerleau. Pomerleau will be entering their first season with the Storm while Burrell has had indoor football experience.

Burrell will be entering his third season of indoor football, spending the previous two with the Omaha Beef of the UIF. In limited duty with the Beef, he compiled 21 receptions for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns during the past two seasons. The 5'10" 176lb wide receiver began his college career at Nebraska-Kearney where as a true freshman set a school freshman records with 36 receptions for 584 yards and 6 touchdowns. After two seasons with the Lopers, he transferred to North Dakota State in 2003. The 2003 season was Burrell's most impressive in which he posted 56 receptions for 570 yards and a total of 7 touchdowns. Burrell entered his senior year in 2004 with high hopes as a preseason honorable mention to the All-Great West Football Conference team as a wide receiver and second team as a kick returner. Burrell was slowed during his senior year with the Bison due to an ankle injury. Burrell was recently in camp with the 2006 Arena Football League Champion Chicago Rush. There is no doubting Burrell's speed as he holds the 100 and 200 meter records at Nebraska-Kearney and is also a six-time North Central Conference (NCC) outdoor track and field champion.

Pomerleau saw time at both wide receiver and quarterback with Augustana College. Pomerleau, who has 4.6 forty speed, posted 32 receptions for 597 yards and 6 touchdowns during his senior season in 2006. He threw 36 times, completing 21 of them, for 246 yards and 4 touchdown passes as the backup quarterback. He was named to the 2006 All-NCC First Team for his efforts. The 6'2" 205lb Pomerleau received the Viking offensive player of the week honors twice during 2006 and was also given the Augie Knockout Special award for Week 2 vs. Concordia-St. Paul. With Pomerleau's experience at quarterback, it will allow the Storm to save a roster spot on game days.

Training camp gets underway on TONIGHT at the Avera Sports Institute starting at 10pm as the Storm prepare for their first game at Rock River on Saturday, March 24.
