Island Storm News Release
(Charlottetown, PE) The Island STORM has traded one of their four 1st round draft picks in the 2015 NBL Canada Draft to the Moncton Miracles today for 3 year NBL veteran and All-Star Cordell Jeanty.
Jeanty, from Toronto, started his NBL career three years ago with the Quebec Kebs. The past two seasons he has been a member of the Moncton Miracles. At 6'5", Jeanty is a forward who works extremely hard. He has shot over 50% from the floor and over 70% from the free throw line his last two seasons in Moncton. Last year was an All-Star year for the Canadian as he averaged over 7.5 points and nearly 4 rebounds per game. Before the NBL Canada started up, Jeanty played in the PBL with the Halifax Rainmen.
"This is a good move for our organization," says STORM Head Coach Joe Salerno. "Cordell is a tough veteran player who will bring a lot of experience and leadership to our locker room. He was a matchup problem for us last season, and we look for him to do the same to other teams this season. He has a great mid-range game, and is a physical player, the type guy that has a big impact on games that doesn't always show up on the Stat sheet."
Next action for the STORM comes up this Friday when they travel to Halifax to take on the Halifax Rainmen in a rare 10:30 am game. This will be the STORM's last exhibition game before they take on the Mill Rats in their home opener Thursday November 6th at Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown.
Season tickets and single game tickets continue to be on sale at the Eastlink Centre Box Office.
STORM Fans purchasing VIP floor seat season tickets or luxury boxes for the coming season will enjoy the Exclusive VIP Pre-Game Reception before each and every STORM home game at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino with a VIP Parking Pass for the first 70 STORM Fans purchasing 2 or more season tickets.
All STORM season ticket holders will receive an "Everybody Loves a STORM Day" Ice Scraper and an invitation to our exclusive STORM season ticket holder pre-season reception and mid-season reception to meet all the STORM Players and Coaching Staff.
