PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Shortstop Jake Cronenworth extended his hitting streak to 21 games but the Charlotte Stone Crabs blew a four-run lead in the ninth, losing 8-7 to the Dunedin Blue Jays Thursday.

With Charlotte (8-12) leading 7-3 in the top of the ninth, Blue Jays (11-10) left fielder Derrick Loveless doubled before Lane Thomas tripled him home to make the score 7-4. Matt Dean followed with a two-run homer to center to cut the Stone Crabs' lead to 7-6.

The Stone Crabs then brought in Bryan Bonnell (0-2) to pitch with one out and nobody on. Kevin Vicuna and Andrew Guillotte both singled before Bonnell walked Cavan Biggio to load the bases. Max Pentecost followed with a sacrifice fly to center to tie the game at seven. Dan Jansen then lined a single to left to plate pinch runner D.J. Davis and give Dunedin an 8-7 lead.

The Stone Crabs did have several bright spots despite the unlikely loss. Cronenworth reached base two times for the 17th time during his 21-game hitting streak. He's now the eighth farmhand in Tampa Bay Rays history to put together a streak of 21 games or more.

Outfielders Manny Sanchez, Angel Moreno and Ryan Boldt all picked up three hits on the night. Sanchez scored twice and Boldt drove in three runs while also picking up a triple and a walk.

Second baseman Peter Maris pulled a solo home run down the line in right field in the eighth inning. The homer is the Stone Crabs' first at home this season over 12 games at Charlotte Sports Park.

Charlotte also got a quality start from left-hander Genesis Cabrera . Cabrera allowed solo homers to Pentecost and Jansen but scattered four hits and a walk over six innings outside of that. Cabrera has now held the opponent to three earned runs over his last 17 innings (1.59 ERA).

The Stone Crabs will open a three-game series with the Bradenton Marauders Friday night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Blake Bivens (1-1, 4.71) makes the start for Charlotte against RHP Dario Agrazal (1-0, 2.28) of Bradenton. Coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
