
Stone Crabs Pitch Way to 3-1 Win

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The Charlotte Stone Crabs pitching staff combined on a six-hitter Wednesday night, beating the Dunedin Blue Jays 3-1 at Charlotte Sports Park.
Blake Bivens (2-0) went 5.1 innings in relief, scattering four hits while striking out three. He allowed just one unearned run.
Spencer Jones started the game, going two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit.
The Stone Crabs didn't waste any time scoring against Blue Jays starter Yennsy Diaz (0-2). After Lucius Fox walked, Brendan McKay cranked a two-run home run to right to give Charlotte a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second, Josh Lowe drew a one-out walk before Rene Pinto singled him to third. Miles Mastrobuoni followed with a run-scoring groundout to second to extend the lead to 3-0.
Stone Crabs reliever Brandon Koch went five outs for the save, striking out one to earn his fourth save of the season.
The Stone Crabs will go for a split of the series Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. Alexis Tapia will make the start for Charlotte against Patrick Murphy of the Blue Jays. Coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
