Charlotte Stone Crabs News Release
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - With four games remaining in the team's Inaugural Season, the Charlotte Stone Crabs clinched their first-ever playoff berth with a win against the Jupiter Hammerheads last night.
The wild card spot was made possible when the Fort Myers Miracle clinched both halves of the season in the FSL South, and the team with the second best overall record is granted the wild card berth. The Stone Crabs currently have a six-game lead in the overall season standings over the St. Lucie Mets in the Florida State League South Division, and the Mets only have five games left to play.
Game 1 of the FSL Divisional Series will take place at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, at Charlotte Sports Park. Playoff tickets are currently on sale starting at just $5 by calling 941-206-HITS or visiting the Charlotte Sports Park box office. The FSL South division also owns home field advantage for the FSL Championship Series, so if the Stone Crabs advance to the Championship, they would host Games 3-5 from September 13-15.
The team returns home for Fan Appreciation Weekend this Friday for a three-game set against the Sarasota Reds to wrap up the 2009 regular season. Saturday marks another Top 10 Promotional Night with "Fan Appreciation Night" featuring the television giveaway and a special, end-of-season fireworks spectacular immediately after the game. Friday and Saturday's games start at 7:05 p.m. while Sunday's game starts at 5:35 p.m. with gates opening an hour before first pitch each night.
Tickets are still available for all three games and start at just $5 for advance purchases. Fans can call 941-206-HITS, visit the Charlotte Sports Park box office or check stonecrabsbaseball.com for tickets.
