PORT CHARLOTTE -- Enny Romero provided the pitching and Riccio Torrez the offense as the Charlotte Stone Crabs snatched a 3-0 rain-shortened win Thursday over the Bradenton Marauders at Charlotte Sports Park.

Play was stopped due to heavy rains in the middle of the sixth inning and was unable to be resumed.

Romero dominated the Marauders bats, completing five perfect innings before Kirk Singer's leadoff double in the sixth ended the bid. Romero ended up with a six-inning complete game shut-out. He allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out nine.

Torrez belted a two-run home run into the bullpen beyond the left field wall in the bottom of the fourth to break the scoreless tie. The blast was Torrez' second of the series and ninth of the season. He finished 2-for-2 with a double as well.

Charlotte picked up another run in the fifth. Kevin Kiermaier tripled and scored on Phil Wunderlich's two-out single.

Robi Estrada had just two at-bats, but was unable to record a hit, ending his hitting streak at 10 games.

The win gives Charlotte the series victory over the Marauders, and also provides an 8-7 edge to the Stone Crabs in the season series between the two clubs. They will meet for one final set at McKechnie Field next week.

Charlotte continues its home stand on Friday by opening a three-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads. Righty Victor Mateo will take the mound for the Stone Crabs, opposed by left-hander Adam Conley. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
