STOCKTON, Calif. - The JetHawks lost an early one-run lead and never recovered, falling to the Stockton Ports 11-2 on Monday night at Banner Island Ballpark.

After receiving an early lead on a first-inning home run by Brett Phillips, JetHawks (11-14) starter Evan Grills (1-3) struggled out of the gate. After a walk to Branden Cogswell and a single by Michael Soto, Tyler Marincov gave the Ports the lead with a two-RBI double. Justin Higley reached on a fielding error by first baseman A.J. Reed, scoring Marincov from second. John Nogowski followed with a two-run homer to cap the five-run rally for Stockton.

Grills took the loss for the JetHawks after allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits over just three innings pitched. The left-hander walked three and struck out four.

Tyler Brunnemann took over for Grills in the fourth inning and yielded two runs on a J.P. Sportman home run and a fielder's choice grounder by Marincov. The Lancaster right-hander allowed an additional run in the fifth, as Sportman collected an RBI double to extend the Ports' lead to 8-2.

Stockton (12-13) also scored three runs against Gonzalo Sanudo in the seventh. Higley led off with a solo homer, Franklin Barreto added an RBI single and Sportman finished the night's scoring with a sacrifice fly to left field.

Brendan McCurry (1-1) received the win for the Ports, tossing three scoreless innings in relief while striking out five.

Lancaster acquired both runs via solo home runs against Stockton starting pitcher Joel Seddon. Phillips' leadoff homer was his fifth of the season, and A.J. Reed added his fifth home run in the fourth inning.

Frederick Tiburcio escaped a two-out jam with runners on second and third in the ninth, striking out two batters en route to tossing a scoreless inning.
